Medical Education Initiative on "Advanced Bleeding Care in Trauma"

The European Medical Education Initiative on Advanced Bleeding Care in Trauma (ABC-Trauma) was founded in 2004 with the specific objectives of:

• Supplementing the existing ABC Educational Initiative with respect to trauma
• Developing high quality educational content aimed at and relevant to an interdisciplinary European audience of
  
  • Surgeons
  • Anaesthesiologists
  • Intensive care specialists
  • Haematologists
• Subsequently developing a consensus on treatment strategies in polytrauma

The ABC-Trauma Slide Kit, first developed in 2005, provides a high quality pool of supplementary educational content on bleeding care in trauma.
The slides have been subject to a comprehensive update-process in 2006 to include the most current data.
The kit complies with existing regulations for continuing medical education (CME).

Specialists from different European countries were involved in the development of this slide kit and in the adaptation and modification of the content to meet the specific needs of educational activities on the regional and national level in 2006.

Furthermore, members of the faculty are active in societies, on congresses and through publications, such as a European treatment guideline for trauma care.
