Agradecimientos

Una de las entidades nosológicas que en el mundo del paciente grave están presentado mayor interés es la de la hemorragia aguda, su epidemiología, fisiopatología, actitud terapéutica e implicaciones pronósticas.

En esta línea, la acción internacional formativa ABC y ABC-Trauma ha supuesto un importante avanze al unificar conceptos y criterios, al dar una visión multidisciplinar y al ofrecer una constante puesta al día de los temas desarrollados.

El temario presentado, en constante actualización y revisión, recoge los conocimientos y el apoyo bibliográfico sobre los principales temas de interés en los cuidados del paciente con hemorragia aguda grave de diferente etiología, repasa las bases fisiopatológicas de la alteración de la coagulación en la agresión, profundiza en la indicación de la transfusión y de las nuevas terapias y finaliza con escenarios de gran relevancia clínica.

Nuestra opinión es que nos encontramos ante una acción formativa de indudable interés para todos los profesionales implicados en el manejo de estos pacientes a sí como para cualquier clínico que desee saber mas.

Acknowledgement

The ABC Slide Library and the ABC-Trauma Slide Kit reflect the basic and state-of-the-art knowledge of bleeding care. The future will bring a great number of new innovative treatments, some of which may deliver disappointing results. On the other hand, some may offer successful new options for the treatment of critically bleeding trauma patients.

For this reason, these slide collections should be seen as living documents, which will need to be updated regularly. To ensure the continued high quality of the slide library and the initiatives for the future, suggestions for improvements or updates to the curricula are most welcome.

As chairs of the ABC and ABC-T initiatives, we would like to thank our grantor Novo Nordisk for financially supporting the initiative with an unrestricted educational grant, and Thomson Physicians World GmbH for providing organisational and medical writing support.
