Agradecimentos

Um dos grandes desafios da medicina atual é o controle do sangramento grave. Os rápidos e importantes avanços do conhecimento nesta área fazem com que uma educação continuada de excelência seja fundamental.

O programa ABC, iniciado com sucesso na Europa, tem sido adaptado por uma comissão de reconhecidos especialistas brasileiros em diversas áreas. As aulas e diapositivos de alta qualidade estão disponibilizados, em português, para a comunidade médica. A alta relevância clinica dos diversos temas analisados poderão contribuir para um efetivo avanço no tratamento do sangramento de pacientes em condições complexas e de alto risco.

Brazilian ABC Slides

The Brazilian ABC Educational Initiative started its activities in October 2005. The faculty consists of distinguished experts from the main universities and hospitals in São Paulo. These specialists in the fields of haematology, trauma surgery, intensive care and anaesthesiology adapted and translated the ABC Slide Library into the Portuguese language and developed a Brazilian ABC programme which includes a number of educational ABC symposia.

We are very pleased to make the Portuguese-language slides available to visitors of the global ABC website!

Acknowledgement

The ABC Slide Library and the ABC-Trauma Slide Kit reflect the basic and state-of-the-art knowledge of bleeding care. The future will bring a great number of new innovative treatments, some of which may deliver disappointing results. On the other hand, some may offer successful new options for the treatment of critically bleeding trauma patients.

For this reason, these slide collections should be seen as living documents, which will need to be updated regularly. To ensure the continued high quality of the slide library and the initiatives for the future, suggestions for improvements or updates to the curricula are most welcome.

As chairs of the ABC and ABC-T initiatives, we would like to thank our grantor Novo Nordisk for financially supporting the initiative with an unrestricted educational grant, and Thomson Physicians World GmbH for providing organisational and medical writing support. Special thanks we would like to extend to the members of the ABC and ABC-Trauma European Medical Education Initiative Faculties for their contributions. Without their conscientious work, these excellent curricula could not have been developed.
